I'm thinking that this was somebody's Rube Goldberg contraption.0

We cut out and abandoned the gas line- ran new piping in house. Fred- do you know who made these or is it in fact a Rube Goldberg-type thing?0

They are a collector item for some.
Read here of old bars that had them for heating.
Maybe the fumes made people thirstier.0 -
My parents had two of them in our house. You fill them with water and they become humidifiers. Safety hazard? We never had an issue. and, we were warm.
Today, we leave them off. there is no way to stop the gas if you loose the flame. Yeah, theyre a safety hazard. I shudder when I think about it.0 -

Yup! Just like a gas stove top. All winter long, 24/7. Three foot long burners with flames between a 1/2" to 2 inches tall.JUGHNE said:Into your lungs etc.
I think it was a good thing my parents went to church every Sunday. Maybe more beneficial was mom doing laps around the Rosary beads every day.
No one can be that lucky for that long. We were living on a prayer.1 -

If my Dad were still alive, he would have loved that pamphlet. When he found those radiators, he found gold. He would point to the conclusions: No CO! No CO2!
