Bleeding air from radiators question

Should the air bleeding process be done while I hear the clicking in the pipes - or can it be done at any time? I wasn't sure if it's best to be done while the circulator is running.

If needed, it should be done with the circulator off. I'm assuming you have cast iron rad's?
Not sure what you mean by "clicking". That could just be thermal expansion of the rad's and piping as they heat up.
If you have CI rad's, and if they're getting hot over the entire surface of the rad, then there's no need to bleed them.Bob Boan

Clicking may not be the best description - more of a tapping noise. I've attached a photo. They do get warm, I'd just like to stop the tapping noise if possible. Couldn't hurt to try I guess, I'll do it with the circulator off.

Those are convectors.
Make sure that your fill valve maintains at least 15 psi on the boiler while bleeding. In other words, watch the gauge while bleeding.Bob Boan
