Stainless steel band clamps at water source heat pumps

A building which I am working on has water source heat pumps. Each heat pump has a hose which is connected to the piping via a stainless steel band clamp. Are band clamps approved for service under water pressure? I know that they are often used for temporary repairs, but not for continual service. If they are approved for continual service, do any of the manufacturers provide literature or test data which supports this?

If a manufacturer included it with the system it SHOULD be a product tested and listed for the application?

There are pressure, temperature and fluid rated flex connectors on the market for that application.

They've been used in automotive applications for years and years. While the pressures they operate at might not be the same, you'd be hard pressed to find a more demanding environment.
