Won't there still be contractors saying, "What's skimming?".Danny Scully said:HBBEAST! On the bright side Burnham is getting there act together with the skim tapping...

Time to go home and shower. The old HB took up most of the soot filled day unfortunately.1

I cannot force people to spend money, I can only suggest how to spend it wisely.......1 -
Up and running...more to be done next week (condensate zones, skimming, etc.)0

Well, you know I hate those IN boilers. But 70% of that was a skim port that could not be removed, 25% was on 2" supply tappings, and 5% was for all their poor castings in prior years. Having said all that, -beautiful job!
I just think you should discover the magic of Weil/Williamson or Peerless 63 for gas, depending on which side you'd like the controls.New England SteamWorks

Also, we need a close up picture of the skim port on an IN. I don't think there is another one in existence, and you know how many IN owners are going to show up this winter with surging. Nice to have a reference photo to guide them.New England SteamWorks

Thanks @New England SteamWorks. I’ve installed Weil-Mclain, Williamson, and Peerless. Peerless is definitely my favorite option...although it weighs a ton and I’ve noticed some crooked riser threads on the last few. This particular job was sold by my brother, and National Grid offers the IN at a reduced rate with rebates, so it’s not always easy to sway someone in another direction. I’ll try and remember to get another pic of the skim tapping when I go back, unless this one works.0
