Just a quick, informal poll. Has anyone out there ever had a successful boiler warranty claim. Steam boiler, cast iron water,mod con.....

Consider that proving it’s a flaw in a casting or assembly is very difficult and probably incredibly rare. Therefore when you have a failure on a CI boiler, they almost always can deny it based on water quality. They limits they put in the manual can be challenging in some locals.

Yes, many times. We used to install Weil Mclain cast iron boilers almost exclusively. I can recall two factory assembled residential boilers (one steam and one hot water) that leaked when we filled them for the first time. A few residential steam boilers thst failed within the old ten year warranty period, W/M covered them all (boiler only, no labor). To be fair, we installed over five hundred W/M cast iron boilers since I've been in the business.

We installed or have worked on about twenty-five W/M Ultra boilers (commercial and residential). We've replaced more than half of the boiler blocks on these units. W/M covered the blocks in every case, once thry gave us s new boiler instead.

We've gotten two HBSmith 28 sections that leaked from the factory.

Never had a Gionni (sp) style heat exchanger fail yet and we installed approximately two hundred to date (Htp, Peerless, Lochinvar, Burnham).

I’ve installed one WM ultra ( it was speced) and it leaked years later. We put in a new block under warranty. Year later that leaked. A new system was installed by others

I’ve replaced several GB142 blocks under warranty.

I’ve never replaced a Viessmann wall hung Hx, installed about 140.

I’ve installed 50 Bosch green star boilers. Too new to have any issues

Warranty is half manufacturer and half local vendor. Sometimes to don’t know who to hate more.
