First time I saw one of these

Would love to see an internal schematic of this. Works perfectly on a 2 zone fin tube baseboard system from the 50's (original steel expansion tank).
Does anyone know what's going on in there?
Thanks
Steve

I've never seen it either, but a wild guess would be its flow check/air chamber/air vent all in one.Bob Boan

Never seen that either. I think @Ironman nailed it!!0

My thought too. Exactly why it would be nice to see an internal mechanical diagram here. I have seen one of these before but the tapping used for the vent here was plugged.Solid_Fuel_Man said:Interesting that there's an auto air vent on there and the compression tank.

Maybe it's constructed so that whatever air that doesn't go into the tank goes to the vent before it goes to the system?Bob Boan

@ironman Yeah I kinda figured that too.
There actually is a tap marked 'Vent', where the vent is attached if you zoom in. I don't know what the other tap, that looks like a screw that could be turned, does.
There are flow checks on the supply loops too, but maybe whoever originally installed it didn't know about an internal one.
Maybe I give Watts a call Monday, and/or check for patent info.
Was hoping maybe Dan may remember one, in one of his books.
Thanks for the comments everyone. There was an error rendering this rich post.
