Steam boiler header
dash
Member Posts: 12
Im working on a Weil Mclain peg 45 replacing a old snowman boiler that had a counter flow system two mains running left and right side of the house and each had a drip . I was hoping that someone could give me a better piping diagram then the manual it didn't seem to show a drop header the way I thought it would be piped. I'm not sure where to pipe the drips for the mains should these dump in to the wet leg after the Hartford loop?
Thanks John

This looks the same as the one in the Peerless manual.—NBC0 -
Follow the above posted by @nicholas bonham-carter and you will be fine0

The manual doesn't show where the drips from the mains tie in0
-
As I recall, there's no real need for a Hartford loop since there is no return piping. Running the drips down into the return tapping should do it.

I found this would this be an approved method of piping0

I ran mine like this on the last counterflow job, the reason I dripped in that location is because that was the lowest point.

Thanks everyone for the feedback
I have one more question do I have to have a double riser off the boiler or can I stay with one 2 1/2 and 2 1/2 header with two -2” tees for supply’s and then to a
1 1/2 equalizer line0 -
depends on the steam velocity out of your boiler. Most here will use both even on small boilers0
-
What does the manufacturer say.0
-
The manual shows one riser at 2 1/2" and a
2 1/2" header0 -
Nothing succeeds like excess, as they say. Use both risers.

Dave my system is Similar to yours other than having two mains running say east and west sides of house
I see you piped up over the main and then back down in to it would this be a issue or good practice
Thanks John0
