I have an old H B Smith series 44 boiler that i need to replace and i have no way to size it. the only information i have is the MBH rating of the gun. Does anyone know how i can size this boiler for replacement?

If it's hot water it's sized by the heat loss of the building, if it's steam it's sized by the EDR of the emitters.1

What @Jamie Hall and @KC_Jones said is correct. I used to have all the old smith boiler books and had the #44 charts, unfortunately the book got moldy in the celler so I tossed it.
I am sure if you call Smith In Westfield, MA they can help you. Called Mestek now0 -
