I have a feeling that I'm not going to be able to unscrew this nipple even if i wanted to..what say yous..? I want to p/s pump my system. My calculations call for 1"pipe However as you can see in the pics. The return tapping is 1-1/2" reduced to 3/4 and the supply is 1-1/2" with 1-1/4" reducer currently reduced to 3/4. Can I leave the tappings alone and use 1" to 1.5" reducers at the nipples? Will it be too much of a problem with my flow?

You need 1" IPS to get the correct flow for that boiler

But If the nipples coming out of the boiler are 3/4" and are only a few inches long (say 6") and you can increase the pipe size to 1" right away you will be ok. You need to move 8 gpm

On a boiler that age, I'd leave well enough alone.

Why would you want to re-pipe a 46 year old boiler? If it works, leave it alone. If you want better efficiency, then it's time for a new one. I can't see where p/s is gonna be any benefit.
