Amtrol water maker, 41 gallon model. 10 gallons and she's done.

New amtrol 41 gallon water maker. 10 gallons and it's cold. This has a mechanical aquastat and is heated by an HTP boiler. The aquastat does not seem to be functioning properly. My plan is to install the 10k ohm sensor and see if that works. Any ideas?

Is the aquastat new with the tank?
The aquastat is just switching? Not 24v powered with lights?
    Is there a differential setting?
    Heat loop air bound?
    Dip tube installed?

What was the previous DHW heating system and did it perform better?

that model has had bad aquastat's in the past,...if you are getting voltage to it, its bad, i would recomend the non digital one, they last alot longer than the digital one's and they are cheaper

Sorry, no pics yet. Update. I replaced the aquastat with the 10k ohm sensor. Nowi can read the temp of the tank from the boiler control panel. I poured heart to the tank and got that temp up to 123F. Got maybe 2 gallons of hot (nowhere near scalding) water into the tub. Basically the sensor is telling me i have a full tank of hot water but reality says basically no hot water. Controlled by pump. I'm guessing around but when the pump is running both supply and return lines get super hot.

    I meant I'm guessing airbound.

    @older_dog

Seems like the tank IS up to temp.

Are you sure the dip tube was installed?

Supply and return will get hot.

Maybe you need to know that this is not a boiler mate it is a hydromax, all piped from the top.

In the I&O manual, whether you have the BoilerMate or HydroMax, look at replacement parts.
The cold water dip tube brings the inlet cold near the bottom of the tank, ensuring you only draw hot out the top of the tank when needed.
If it's not there, the cold will just enter the top of the tank and get drawn right back out the hot side.

Thanks. Don't understand why the unit wouldn't come with it already installed but i will check.

It might be installed....should be in the cold inlet side.
Might the H & C connections be reversed?
If so you would be getting some hot water off of the bottom of the tank and with cold entering the top it would cool off the bottom as it fell by gravity.

On conventional WHs the dip tube is movable from port to port, don't know about your tank though.

Wouldn't be the first time, but is easy enough to check -- the H & C connections should be labelled on the top of the tank. Draw hot water at a tap, and the H connection should be hot and the C connection cool or cold.
