Please see current Post with Pictures. I am not a drive by. I went on Vacation and it took time to get all the info. This is freaking me out. We cant afford a new boiler every couple of years. Is there an alternative to weil McLain ??

Need more information. What type of system, which boiler and as always pictures of the install would help a lot. I can't imagine a cast iron boiler rotting out in 5 months. I can't think of any way that would be possible short of a salt corrosion tank.

    What's kept in the basement?
Any chlorine products? Pool treatment products?

Single pipe 392sqft system with an EG-40 rated for 325sqft and it's silent and balanced at all times.

The distributor obviously doesn't have a clue.

Is this a steam or hot-water system?

Best thing is to post a picture, you say sealed off from everything in its own room. Honestly, can't give a good answer till more information is given...

Need lots more info. Is it steam or hot water? What are the temp settings? What type of vent/chimney? Where does the combustion air come from?
Don't be a one post wonder...

I can hardly imagine an environment, short of a factory that produces industrial oxidizers or something, that could rot out a cast boiler within a single season. Hopefully this guy posts back!

What is actually corroding, the HX or the jacket? What are the symptoms that you are getting?

Maybe constant heavy water make up plus high humidity environment close to the ocean, next to a desalination plant, above a leaky salt water aquarium...

Yes, post some pics and any other info.
Wondering, is it a large boiler that had to be split to get it to boiler room?
The CI is actually disintegrating, or is it leaking between the sections?
    Well water, or city water?

Doesn't WM cast their sections at a foundry in MichiganCity, IN?
I've never had a WM that my company has installed fail in less than 20 years that we are also contracted to annually maintain. Most failures of others' installs I have noticed are mostly due to excessive makeup water usage due to leaking wet returns or excessive steam loss at radiator valves. Water usage data for steam boilers needs to be maintained. Personally I'm pretty satisfied with WM quality.
