Steam boiler -- Southern CT contractor recommendation

I've learned a lot from this site over the past 24 hours since I learned that my newly purchased house's flue needed relining and is not suitable for the installed oil HWH and oil steam boiler. Thanks to all who contribute and make this site such a great resource.

I'm considering my options (leaning to a gas conversion for the steam boiler with an indirect fired HWH) and looking for a good vendor in Southern CT servicing New Haven County. "Find a Contractor" didn't have a listing. Hoping someone on here serves this area or has a good recommendation. One thing I've learned on this site is that the installer quality is really the determining factor for satisfaction. I don't want to go wrong on a project of this size.

Not sure whether Charles Garrity goes that far -- @Charlie from wmass -- 413-841-6726 -- but you might give him a call and see. If he does, he's one of the best.

All of New Haven County is an hour from Springfield. From what I understand, advertising here is not that expensive.

Wow, this thread took a turn... Sorry for not replying, but it has been a rather busy time as we're just doing the move-in. I'll post some pictures of the system soon as everyone seems to enjoy seeing them and they're fun to dissect.

@Mad Dog and @Steamhead are right, I've scheduled a visit from someone on this site later this week.

And, @newagedawn, I'm aware of the cost, but thanks for your concern

Erin and I have always appreciated and supported the contractors who advertise here. They make the site possible. What goes around comes around.

You are in need of a re-pipe. The near-boiler piping is all wrong, and you need a steam pro to sort out what is going on with the system. It appears as though, part of it is counter-flow without a drip. It needs some attention.

I got to agree...Advertiseing here on the steam page was one of best decisions....I hated to pull it when I retired

I want to give a quick thanks to the folks who steered me toward @Charlie from wmass. As suggested, he's been fantastic, detail oriented towards doing things right and a real pleasure to work with. Thanks @Jamie Hall, @j a, @KC_Jones . I have a bunch of contractors running around on various projects and they all seem to do things a little better when they see the job he's doing for fear they'll look mediocre in comparison.

It's nice to have someone raise the bar, when they're doing something for you....isn't it? That system is the "bones" of the house. Charlie will make it right.
