reinstalling boiler/radiator system

I recently submitted a bid on a Century home. To my horror, I found out the previous owner pulled the boiler/radiators out and installed FHA! Am I crazy to want to pull out the furnace and reinstall the boiler/radiator system? The home is a 1902 Colonial approximately 1500 sq. ft. located in a southwestern suburb of Cleveland, Ohio. Thanks for any comments.

    Crazy? No.
I prefer it as well, specifically I like steam but hot water is nice too.

I think Gerry Gill is who you want. He can install both steam or hot water from scratch and does beautiful work.

You're not crazy. It would be a very worthwhile part of an historical restoration. Furthermore, since you are in Cleveland you have one of the very best steam men in the country right in your area: @gerry gill . It will be much easier, however, if they didn't junk the radiators. The piping is no problem. Probably needed a new boiler anyway. But radiators... but Gerry can help with that, too.

And you can use the FHA ducting for air conditioning, if it isn't hopelessly in the way and clunky.

Hmmmm...........First floor radiant. Second floor panel rads w/ trv's for sleeping areas. Lots of possibilities to make yourself very comfortable.

If you've got the budget, period hot water radiators and a high efficiency boiler is the way to go. You can have the looks and comfort of radiators with modern controls and components.
