sight glass drops about 75% & R Steamaster Tablets

During the 2 hours of my Crown Kingston KSZ075 Steam boiler running, the water in sight glass drops about 50 to 75% and the boiler after it cools down, it returns to normal level. The pressure gauge reads about 1.25
Is that behavior normal? Or does it signify a problem? Could this be caused by the 2” dia instead of 3” dia 24” Riser & 2” dia Header instead of 3” dia?
Does anyone know where I can purchase Rectorseal Steamaster Tablets?
Thanks for your Help.

How long has that boiler been in operation? Pictures of the boiler and the piping around it would help.

Sounds more like a problem with slow returns -- but if it doesn't drop to the point where the LWCO operates I wouldn't be too worried.Br. Jamie, osb

Why is that boiler running for 2 hours? Do you use a deep setback and the boiler runs that long to bring the house temp back up?0

The House Radiator Measurements calculate to 195sq ft and the Oil Fired Steam Boiler, Crown Kingston KSZ075 w/ Beckett AFG Oil Burner, installed is rated at 283sq ft of steam. All radiators are getting piping hot. Unit is one year old.
Header*.jpg shows top of 28in 2” riser, 2” horizontal header & 2” vertical header. From the vertical header, 1” Equalizer, 1.5” 45 degree take off and then into 2” take off. The 1.5” 45 degree main is ~20ft long & services 2 of the 10 radiators with Hoffman #76 on the end. 2” main is ~50ft long services 8 of the 10 radiators with Hoffman #75 on the end.
Every 10 minutes, the CycleGard low water cut-off removes power from the burner for the Intermittent Level test.

That water in the sight glass looks pretty dirty... could be the flash making it green... how's the water bob in the sight glass during the operation - smooth or all over the place?
Could be the piping pulling water out of the boiler for some wet steam as for the oversized boiler, there should be enough water for the amount of edr attached to it.0 -
The boiler is piped incorrectly. In addition to incorrect pipe size (header should be 3" equalizer 1 1/2") the header configuration is wrong. The equalizer is supposed to come off the end of the header not the side as it was done. Also it is much better to have all system takeoffs connected individually to the header not teed together as yours is.
Was this boiler skimmed after install? My best guess is you are surging due to oil and that is being amplified by the incorrect piping.
If you don't get the piping fixed you may never be able to get this system to work correctly. You don't need water treatment you need a repipe.0 -
The near boiler piping is so wrong. It needs to be corrected before that boiler will heat properly. Find your owner's manual and look at what the configuration should be.0

As everyone said, the piping is completely wrong.
Also noticed the pressure relief isn't plumbed which is extremely dangerous.
What did they do to the bottom corners of the boiler jacket? It's all dented on both sides.Single pipe 392sqft system with an EG-40 rated for 325sqft and it's silent and balanced at all times.
