A Baby Eighty?

The old copper-clad Burnham, she's a leaking...

She's also way too big!

Total EDR in this magnificent Queen Ann Victorian is 950. Could go with a Weil EG-95 or 105. But I like the 80 series. Never did the baby 380. I think it looks good:

So today we built the header.

Now we just need to get the old boiler out and the new boiler running, tomorrow! Long day in store...

We've done a 3-80. This lady likes to give boiler-room tours, wonder why? o:)

    http://forum.heatinghelp.com/discussion/148298/atmospheric-out-power-burner-in

One of my favorite things about the 80 series is that it has proper tappings for probe-type primary and secondary low-water cutoffs. So we use them. This way we never have to worry about someone neglecting to blow down a float-type LWCO.

    Never without a few unexpecteds:

The old loop seal was for the original boiler. Too high now, even for the 80.

Then, apparently, Weil doesn't want dual risers on the Baby:

So a little surgery required. The insulation should cover well I am thinking...

Still need to finish building the gauge/control header, wire up the VXT, and a 2nd LWC, and insulate. Should be done tomorrow, just in time to relax and watch the Patriots dismantle the Steelers (I hope).

Thank you. I planned for three.

    Ended up being four....

That's the thing about steam (as you well know), once you open it up, it's often a can full of worms! Especially in January.

The good news is, they were only without heat for one day and no nights. That was the hardest part though. Not the most efficient way to go about it, but again, -it's January.

    I want one , , ,

    I'm curious,
what's going on with the vent on the pressurtrol piping?
why the need, or what benefit?
and are those control piping arrangements "primed" or just air locks?

and sort of answering myself now,
we wouldn't want water under that vent now, would we??

still curious about the vent , , ,

won't this invite steam, then condensate, into this loop?

not trying to be a azzwhole, truly curious on the vent,

@neilc, where do you see a vent?

    ah,
I wrote P troll, meant Vstat,
the left control pipes, left of Vstat,
there's a ball valve and I think, a vent above that,
    (next to gas service valve,)
    am I seeing things?

    yeah, I'm wrong,
it's a snubber for the gage,
    sorry guys,
looked to me like a Barnes and Jones adjustable main vent,
and I have no explanation of how that gage would have been sitting out there in space,
    not enough coffee ?

It's just a low pressure gauge. No vent. With snubber, correct.

That's just the 'dingy' that takes you out to the 'real' one.

There was an error rendering this rich post.

I'm pretty sure that's his ride. I've seen a bunch of photos of him in it with family. And he has the name changed every time he wins a Super Bowl.

Don't get me wrong, it's a nice boat. I'd like to see him in something like a Lyman Morse (my old employer) or maybe an MJM, Sabreline.

I am the homeowner who was the recipient of this system.. So far so good. We are already noticing that the heating is more even throughout the house. Previous boiler would flood certain areas of house with heat while other spots where always chilly..

Can't wait to see how fuel bill changes.. Very curious about that. RI_steamworks was extremely knowledgeable and informstive.. As a customer that is invaluable since this is a huge investment for us.
