Hi,
I only see mixing reset discussed with variable speed pumps. Would a standard pump work to create a mixing reset? What type of control can be used for this? Thanks !!

For quite a while this is how reset was done. There are still many of these setups out there. The challenge is getting the resistance of the mixing loop piping synced with the circ. Many did not have enough resistance so the circ was constantly "seeking" which gave erratic performance. Both Siggy and Tekmar have done some great articles on this.

To answer your question, this is the product http://www.supplyhouse.com/Tekmar-356-Mixing-Control-Variable-Speed-4156000-p?gclid=CPT35oLGzdECFQEGaQodzJsHxg

As I have said before, by the time you buy the controller, circ and balancing valve to make this work correctly, you could have bought 2 smart mixing valves.

Pretty much all the radiant manufacturers still offer VS pump blocks. Viega has a nice plug and play block with what looks to be a tekmar control.

With injection mixing you can move a lot more BTUs. Now with ECM circulators, energy consumption is nil.

With valves you need to watch Cv, especially thermostatic mixers.

    Just depends on the application.

The tekmar or HBX controls are most common for building your own VS mix. We have a much wider, and smaller pump selection now. In some cases a small DHW recirc pump is all you need.
