Use steam boiler water for indirect water heater?

I'm going to get that replacement I pictured below.

They want to upgrade from the original DHW tank and tiny Raypak.

Why can't I take steam boiler water with a pump below the water line and an aquastat for DHW off this 800k steamer? Anyone done this before?

I'm thinking I'll need a HX in line? Then I'll just need a storage tank and not an indirect?

Are you going with atmospheric or wet based boiler? Tekmar control for outdoor reset?

It's a Peerless atmospheric 800k steamer. Got pricing on 2 60 gal super store. Getting pricing on a plate HX and pumps now. I was thinking tekmar to control the boiler / DHW calls. I haven't set one up like this before.

Personally I wouldn't go with a flat plate HX. You just need a standard switching relay no need for a tekmar

AERCO's original business was water heaters. A storage tank with flexible copper coils inside. Worked with steam or hot water. Steam powered ones were preferable. No pump for one thing. With 800k steam you don't need much storage for house.

What is your domestic hot water demand? It can't be larger than the boilers pick-up factor

32 units, figure 2.5 per unit. The Raypak in there now condensed to death.
