The old boiler and near boiler piping was scrapped by the previous tenant so there's no before pictures.
Crown BSI-069 3" drop header, there was no room for king valves since the basement was a short one, repiped the old dry return into a wet return since there was no way getting the dimension A and also add another wet return on another steam main.

Forced hot dust. And I'm ashamed I'm putting in a new dust master next month. The shame.

Get Gerry Gill to design a mini-tube steam system for you- with B&J traps, of course.

Agreed. BTW, Ferguson sells Crown boilers under the Force brand, and I think the price is a bit better.

I would love that. But the reality is I needed new heating equipment this year and I live in a really old house that I'm sure would have been a fortune to convert. Although I could probably find a deal on traps...

Plus here's the real reason. You pros do such incredible work I couldn't possibly pick someone over the other.m Hence I'd try and do it myself. And I'd be too embarrassed to post pics of my piping and couldn't live with the shame of a bad piping job. B)

My parents house in Maine is where I grew up. They still rock the steam heat. And they have Barnes & Jones traps that are most likely 1950's vintage. Last thanksgiving I was up visiting them with my family. My mom was complaining about the radiators. I went out to my truck and got my 36" pipe and crescent wrench to see what the traps looked like.

"You're not touching those mister! They've been there longer than we have and they work just fine!"

"Ok mom, but you said that.."

"Put those wrenches down and eat some more turkey"

    "Yes mom"

They still won't let me check them haha.
