Best time for training

I would love your opinion on what you think is the best time of day for training. I recently finished two training sessions that started at 5:30 pm and ended at 9:00pm. I did an informal survey of the attendees and some of my customers. They would prefer seminars during the day. I know our trade organizations industry wide are having trouble with attendance if done in evening. Would a training session that starts at 8 am and runs to 11am be better? Some companies do not want to lose billable hours. I also did afternoon sessions that ran from 1-4pm and many people found it was difficult to break away at lunch time. Thanks for your input.

When we do training at my office, we usually do 4 hour blocks at the tail end of the day, 4-8 PM, and take a 20 minute (or so) break at 6 PM for some dinner, which we usually have brought in and ready to go for the break. The 4 PM start time still leaves most of the day available for staff to work billable hours, providing dinner helps keep keep people interested in attending, and finishing at 8 allows people to get home and get enough down time and sleep to be productive the next day.

One of the things that is going to affect training hours is the new rules coming down from the government about overtime.

Most of my seminar training is done 8 AM to 4:30 PM with breaks is usually not a problem. Keep in mind I have classes that run Monday to Friday with that schedule and they are usually pretty well attended.

MY night classes are one night a week from 6 PM until 10 PM with a break in the middle.

Thank you for your comments and opinions
A few of the attendees at my classes suggested they be during the day so they can be paid. Have a great weekend
