Day 2 - Rough Start

Things started out ok on the tear out but then we ran into some surprises.
I built a wall, ok'd by the owners, behind where the old boilers sat. I needed more room for my near boiler piping. When I was done I was told they would be cutting up the floor and installing drain tile before long. So, after scratching my head a bit I cut each stud 2' above the floor and added a bottom plate to stabilize them and then anchored the floating wall to the existing stone. I then added some solid anchors through the top plate into the joist to make sure she wouldn't go anywhere. It'll give the guys enough room to install the tile and then I'll just fill in the bottom of the wall.
Next was the adjacent wall where the new boilers are sitting. The entire wall was being held up by a prayer so we had to rework that quite a bit and then sheet it with some plywood. Finally, by early afternoon we started piping.
The best laid plans...

That 4x4 looks like one of those little mysteries that turns out to holding up the building...disclaimer - I'm a plumber, not a heating pro.0

Nice to start with a clean slate. Do you have a local source for the Jomar filter balls? A clever valve. Do you leave the strainers in, or just a start up filter?Bob "hot rod" Rohr

I get them at Porter. They keep a really good inventory. Depends on the system if I keep them in or not?Steve Minnich0
