@PMJ has a very good point -- often the dead men were way ahead of current practice. It's called "KISS" -- keep it simple, stupid!
And he is also quite right about almost no venting being needed, at least for some systems -- to give one the idea, the system I care for -- about 400,000 BTUh -- is vented, entirely satisfactorily, with one (1) Gorton #2 and one (1) Hoffman 75, both on a mini-antler at the Differential loop. Works just fine.Br. Jamie, osb

I just spent the whole night listening to my wet return line shaking, rattling and rolling as if it was about to burst! I went into the garage to check what was happening at the Gorton#2 (just installed on the wet return Feb 5, 2016) and it is spitting and leaking water in no small measure. The pressure gauge is reading higher than the total of the cut-in + cut-out, (1.5 psi). The pressure meter which is designed to go as high as 3 psi is clocking a 3 psi reading for reasons that I can't figure. Once the wet return starts knocking and vibrating, the pressure gauge drops backs to around 2 psi. The needle on the gauge is bouncing all over the place when that banging in the wet return starts up. I got problems for sure and I think that it's a combo of the questionable configuration of the Hartford loop and the missing crossover trap!

I really, really think that I am in need of a crossover trap! Please help!0 -
Pressuretrol or Vaporstat? If the former, it's wrong. You need a Vaporstat, as Gordo said, to keep the pressure below a pound. All Steamed Up, Inc.
