@Charlie from wmass If I use a pipe how would that technically be configured ?

Find a tee on the main, branch off of it, run your new section of pipe, then drop to below water line and tie into wet return. Drill and Tap vent hole in the section where i want the pipe to act as a radiator ?

How much heat do you need?
Cost is what you spend , value is what you get.

As an example i would say to heat an open space of say 600sq ft .

And what's the heatloss of that 600sqft?

If there's no exterior walls and the ceiling is below a conditioned space it could in theory be close to 0 while if all four walls are exterior and the ceiling is exterior it could be quite high depending on wall construction, insulation etc.

@ChrisJ In my application, i would consider it in a finished basement space that has, what i would imagine is the basic R15 pink fiberglass batts on a masonry house. 3 small windows. nothing crazy.

All kinds of options there. A run of pipe (perhaps 2-3 in parallel) spanning the length of the space with reflective insulation above could work wonders.

For one pipe systems yes. For 2 pipe no. Get a trap then.
