EK-1 System 2000 Efficiency curve ?

I am in MA, and am in need of a new oil fire burner. We had a few people give proposals, 2 were oil companies, and 2 non. The 2 non oil companies were not Energy Kinetics dealers so did not offer them as an option. One of them noted reliability as an issue, having replaced "a number" of them after 6-8 years. The other thing he noted was a steep drop in efficiency over the course of the year between cleanings. Much more so than other boilers. His proposal was for a Veissmann VR-1 27. Cost was significantly higher than the 2 proposals for the EK, but did include an outdoor Reset control where the others did not.

Looking around for info on this efficiency curve for lack of a better name, I haven't really found anything. Can anyone here offer thoughts on this?

Among the 2 EK-1 proposals, one was running piping for outdoor combustion air and proposed a plate heat exchanger with the EK aquabooster tank and one was not running piping for air, and proposed using an indirect water heater.

2600sf single family cape 2 floors, unfinished basement, baseboard heaters.

Any thoughts on these points would also be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Sorry but I always did a combustion test before and after on all jobs. That way I knew what adjustments I wanted to make and then the test after to determine if my adjustments were effective. Now in all fairness most of my tests were on gas.

Did anyone of the bidders perform a heat loss analysis?

@Chris is very knowledgeable on the Veissmann products. Maybe he can offer some opinions here. I think he may even sell them and can probably offer some proffessional opinions for you to, at least consider.

None of them performed a heat loss.

    Thanks for your input!

I have been installing and servicing System 2000 since the early 80's, and we have one that was installed in 1979. There is no drop off in efficiency unless you destroy backboards, chamber, etc. They know nothing about them, so they are pushing another product
