Steam boiler replacement Princeton NJ

They had this fairly young (1995) direct vented Burnham IN5. The boiler was sooo badly rotted that all but one section had two fist sized holes in it. I had told her that I was afraid to touch it in fear it may crumble lol. I wish I had pics of the old boiler but the mess of removing it and my hands forget it. EDR was 287 and she wanted a new installed radiator in her 1st floor bathroom right off the kitchen which had no heat either, so I put a Burnham slenderized 24 EDR rad in bringing total EDR to 311. So in went a Weil McLain EG40. We also replaced all the wet returns as I knew they'd be clogged, and when I cut them open I couldn't believe water actually returned back to the boiler.

Ez I say that every time I walk down a dark dingy basement and I see the beast usually with the nice gold piping all around it, and even better I give the old installer credit as he respected the 80 year old piping by just ADAPTING to it :/

But heck yeah KC were up to that challange.

I hear yea Dave, about 50% of the steam and hydronic boilers I look at the systems themselves have hacked apart and the real challenge is to put everything back to the way there supposed to be

Going by the pictures I'd say #1 lack of proper water treatment and #2 perhaps too much makeup water.

Single pipe quasi-vapor system. Typical operating pressure 0.14 - 0.43 oz. EcoSteam ES-20 Advanced Control for Residential Steam boilers. Rectorseal Steamaster water treatment

Maybe , but the cost cutting measure used in the iron did not help. Somewhere there is the sound of a high end Mercedes - Benz door slamming and a man with a smirk remembering the V series castings.

    Beautiful change out b.t.w.
