I have a customer who has a Honeywell 4080 be aquastat. Complained about a high-pitched whine about a month and a half ago. Replaced it with a new aquastat. Month and a half later same thing high-pitched whine. Any thoughts as to what is causing a simple low voltage switch to do this?

Pull the well and use teflon tape when reinserting it. If that does not work attach a wire to the metal part of the aquastat and the other end of the wire to the chassis of the equipment. Either one of those will stop it if it is an electronic harmonic. If it is not then there is something else going on such as a transformer humming and discharging at the 4080.
