closing in a manifold top floor access will not be as easy later what type of wire do i need to pull for controls might be 4 wire actuators zone valves ? worst case scenario

Decent 18 gauge stranded copper or low capacitance alloy ( Trane Purple ). Shield is not necessary if these are binary ( on / off ) but if they are proportional ( analog ) it might be worth the little extra.hvacfreak

You would be safe running 4 conductors per valve.
Assuming all the end switches will be tied together, the bare minimum would be 2 per valve and 2 for all the end switches."If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough"
