digital thermometer for Dunkirk Steam system

There seems to be some back and forth as to whether or not to use a digital thermometer in our home for our steam system. As Mad Dog recommended to us years ago, we use the T87 but are thinking that it might help to have digital with the ability to adjust for times of day, etc. Any thoughts or recommendations would be appreciated!

I use a Visionpro 8000, and it works fine when set for steam (1 cycle per hour).

I've kept a couple of the T87 as backup.

I will second that. I installed the vision pro last year and I actually like it, as much as one can like a thermostat. The CPH setting is key and is the reason I think some shy away from digital on steam. As long as that setting is available I don't see anything wrong with using digital on a steam system. I use 2 CPH, but I also have the EcoSteam controls "running interference" so I get an actual 2 CPH exactly.

Even the lowly HW 5000 series has a cycle setting from 1 to 12 per hour. I assume the 6000 series that is programmable also may have that option.

I use the 8000 series where the screen needs to be locked and "hold" could not be applied for days at a time

Also using a VP 8000 here.
Personally I have zero interest in using a T87. This is 2015, not 1965.

Single pipe 392sqft system with an EG-40 rated for 325sqft and it's silent and balanced at all times.
