boiler needs new chamber kit

We have an old boiler and recently had the oil company come for their annual tune-up. They told us that the boiler needs a new chamber kit--but that it is no longer made, and therefore cannot be replaced. We are assuming that they are next to tell us that our only option is a new boiler. We were wondering if we have any other options. Thank you.

If (and that's a big if) the boiler is otherwise in good shape, what's wrong with a wet blanket kit?

It's a Blue Ray steel boiler. Stick a fork in it

I agree with Bob. Out of 6000 customers there's one left here. Really not worth putting any money into it. Rare unit.

In this case, I agree. The Blueray was way ahead of its time and suffered as a result. You got a lot more life out of that one than most people did.

A good cast-iron three-pass boiler will run as efficiently as the Blueray was supposed to. I'm assuming you don't have natural gas available?

why don't you figure on what the nozzle size is and look at various charts which tell you the acceptable size of the chamber. look at the degrees on the nozzle and fix the chamber if you can using firebricks and maybe some high heat mortar or cement?

they usually tell you making chamber a bit bigger won't be a problem. once you figure on that you can construct chamber using angles and less corners.

all this providing you have the same type of chamber that allows you to do this. Usually alternatives of buying new boiler is given since parts aren't available..sometimes you can fix things yourself..sometimes you can't..it depends on what you want to spend and how much you have to spend.

As long as it doesn't have the Carlin/Blue Ray burner, and money is an issue, it can be repaired. Some Blue Ray labeled boilers were S-Series boilers, and not Scotch Marine

Those Blur Ray horizontal boilers were also wet base. They had a target wall and cover on the rear similar to an EK

I've used Lynn chamber kits before for old boilers. The have custom kits that you can cut to fit.
