Why do you guys hate navien so much? I have heard that it is a glorified water heater ( is that not what a boiler does?). I heard that they are made cheap but so are are Samsung TV's, labor is cheap in Korea. What is the reason? Is it taking business away from you?

On the contrary,as you know there is a massive market for Navien. If a customer wants it I will install it but I will always give my 2 cents on the unit.By the way what is cheap?.Buy boiler the LLH and all accessories and the price is not far of what you could offer your customer for a far superior product.Again thats my opinion. The ones I have installed have not given me a problem to date but its early days.I do know however that the service rep where I live is inundated with service calls. And yes a lot are installed incorrectly but over 3yrs there has been to many changes to unit.I would not put it in my house.

Mr. Snowmelt I do not agree with your general statement about plumbers...There are lots of good plumbers here on this site...And lots of them chime in and help...Self included.... And lots of them advertise here, and lots of them attended numerous training from site owner, dating back a lot of years. In some states, mine, rules are different...Anyone out here working in the field that's not a licensed. Plumbers wishes they were...That's just the way it is...Your statement, is beyond ridiculous

So Flow sensor came in on Saturday(thankfully sent via Fed ex which delivers on Sat) and installed it that night after work.

Thankfully all is running smooth. Took a week, but I got it.

Thanks to all those that gave advice. If their is a silver lining to this whole episode it is that I know have a much better understanding of the unit.

Thanks again and hopefully i'll never have to come back to this site again. :)

wow, did I put my foot in my mouth on that one. I just remember working with a licensed plumber all he knew where how many fixtures and pvc pipe size. I asked him if he knew how to size a pump. he said not really. I don't think he knew primary secondary. I said to myself out loud a person with a plumbing license don't even know basic boiler chat. I didn't want to stir the pot so left it as is. Then another incident came up, where they use a tankless water heater and tanks and just run them to a heating coil in an air handler. I'm like what happens to the water in the air handler during summer month. I thought it stagnates and gets "funky" but who am I to change the system around. I didnt mean to piss anyone off, and rich is right the NJ hvac license is a joke. Once again I didn't mean to piss anyone off.

Honestly Rob I couldn't give a crap about grammar or spelling. Some of the finest mechanics I have worked with have little schooling partly because trade school was done away with a long time ago.I do take offense when a HVAC guy is way of base with a statement like that.Of course a Lic Plumber has to school himself on hydronics etc and for the most part a lot of us do or else we have the sense to call in a designer and work in tandem like Rich etc.But remember you need a Lic to run gas pipe so if you don't have it the plumber who is covering your **** in my opinion should be reported unless he is doing the gas work himself. Its a topic that has been discussed extensively here so please refrain from stupid statements saying we are unqualified. There is truth to the statement but again there are many threads related to this topic so lets not bring it up again.Remember without a Lic you should not touch gas pipe.

John, I was making a joke as I am a licensed master plumber in Virginia and I found the comment insulting..

We all found the comment insulting Rob . Few if of us resorted to insulting Snowmelt's intelligence , educational level or just plain bad judgement . By the tone shown by your sidemouthed Emoji I highly doubt your remark was a joke . Most don't joke when they are insulted or pissed off . Now , you insult our collective intelligence as a group .
You of all people I am shocked , after some of the nonsensical , more likely a joke statements that you have been offended by .
You didn't get what you didn't pay for and it will never be what you thought it would .
