steam baseboard connection

I'm hoping someone can tell me how/why this works...The 1st floor freestanding radiators in this home have been replaced with 1-1/4" steel baseboard heating. They are connected on one end to the existing radiator stub & teed (bull) on the other end with a Hoffman #500 auto vent...the bottom of the tee is bushed to 3/8" & copper is run down & tapped into the steam MAIN. There is a loop/trap in the copper (visible on the other side of the gas pipe in the attached photo. I fired the boiler from a cold start & the baseboard heated quietly....how is this working?

I think this was answered in your other post, unless I'm confusing something. http://forum.heatinghelp.com/discussion/154482/3-8-steam-return#latestTwo-pipe Trane vaporvacuum system; 1466 edr
Twinned, staged Slantfin TR50s piped into 4" header with Riello G400 burners; 240K lead, 200K lag Btus. Controlled by Taco Relay and Honeywell RTH6580WF0 -
Dan describes this in his "LOst art of steam. I am assuming this is one pipe steam. Some condensate goes back down the supply like it did with the radiator. Because the baseboard is longer and hard to pitch they added the copper. Some condensate goes down the copper. The trap in the copper fills with water and makes a loop seal to prevent steam from coming up the copper to the rad. You have to keep the pressure low or you will loose the loop seal.0
