This is a good example of the fine craftsmanship executed by numerous hydronic "masters" in Seattle. Usually in a townhome....

They cant blame the boiler on that one0

I love the wire outlet strip that was tied on to the piping.

"Uhhhhh, Beavis- where does this pipe go? huh-huh...huh-huh...huh-huh"
"Just bend it around, here, Butt-head.....huh-huh... huh-huh... huh-huh"
Or.... who dumped that load of spaghetti in the boiler room? All Steamed Up, Inc.

That's rich. Here is a picture of a townhouse I looked at in November. For reasons unknown to the builder the house was unable to stay heated when the outdoor temp was below 40 degrees. This is supposed to heat a three story townhouse. Makes it hard to sell a real job if people building houses think these are radiant systems.0

That's a keeper. Send that to Fine Homebuilding as a prime example of how it is supposed to be done by contractor/builders.

Wow is right!
I can't tell you how many jobs I've lost because the decision makers tell me that they're comparing apples to apples...that the other contractor is also using a mod con boiler and the same brand pump, same relay, same type of air separator. Yet, I'm 15-20% higher. My price is just unfair, they say.
Well, that's why the lists above are so important.
Look at the job pictures.
Call the references. They'll confirm that it isn't just pretty, it works better than it ever did or better than what they ever expected. And it does because I did my homework before I stepped on the job...load calculations, pump sizing and selection, supply water temps, piping strategy, control strategy, etc.
And if there was an issue, I responded immediately. My references will confirm that.
Sometimes, I don't take on new work just to insure I can properly take care of our existing customers. I don't want to be the biggest contractor but I do want to be considered one of the best.
In my area you don't have to be licensed to work in the HVAC trade but you do have to be licensed to be an electrician and plumber. This isn't some remote town on the edge of nowhere. This is Chicago. That needs to change.

The owner of this system posted a year ago on this site. It's still not fixed. He's Swiss and knows this is not the way it's supposed to be.
I'd say to the builder/GC: if you think you saved money by hiring the lowball, inexperienced giboni, what it will cost to re-do and legal bills will dwarf what it would have cost to do it right the first time.1 -
Red and yellow and pink and green.........purple and orange and blue...........(I can pipe a rainbow..........pipe a rainbow......)
There was an error rendering this rich post.

maybe the power strips were there to provide proper circuit interruption, or surge protection, or a local disconnect, or , , ,known to beat dead horses0

Swei i am with you on that.
I do not seem to have enough experience to determine what that 3/4" pvc from the pop off routed 90 X90 X90X90 X90 back into the boiler does...Water saver? is this New style bent handle school , Paul ?0 -
Combi unit has 2 relief valves routed into same PVC piping and out the back wall0
