I have one radiator that sounds like it has marbles in it, mainly when system starts cycling from cold. Sounds like the valve disc might be loose. Is that possible?

Hot water or steam? Either way, it could a loose disc. If hot water, could also be air.Br. Jamie, osb

It certainly is possible. The nut that holds the disc on sometimes comes loose and sometimes even just break off.you may have to disconnect the radiator or remove the bonnet on the top of the valve to check and fix it. Maybe should wait for a warm day.0

Check that valve. The disc could well be loose -- or fallen off completely! Could also just be partly closed.Br. Jamie, osb
