oil heater making weird sounds

We have lived in the house for almost a year and we have bled the radiators and all of a sudden it made one weird noise for all but an hr then it just stopped what would b the cause of it

    Ah... gremlins? What kind of system is this (steam, hot water?) and what kind of weird sound? Can you describe it?
