Check valve on boiler loop....

I was working on a TT challenger last week. The EZ/ timesaver manifold that came w/ the boiler made by Webstone had a circulator installed on the return side... plain enough. One thing I did notice (and I see it in the Webstone literature) is the circulator they use has a check valve in it.... why would this be needed? Seems like more of a problem down the road.
