Radiator on condensate line?

I have a single pipe steam system in my (new to me) house. The basement is finished, but doesn't have any direct heating system. There are a couple of condensate return lines exposed, and that got me thinking: could you install a hot water radiator on the condensate line to provide heat to the basement? Otherwise, I'll have to go with electric space heaters, or install a direct vent gas ($$). Any merits to this, or am I crazy?

Have you considered the possibility of taking a hot water loop off the boiler? It's done very commonly, and usually works just fine.Br. Jamie, osb

Ah....that would make a lot of sense. The domestic hot water is currently taken from a loop in the boiler, and I was planning to replace it with a dedicated high efficiency water heater. Could that loop be used for a radiator or two instead?0
