I recently tore down aa Utica gas fired boiler and sealed top box with silicone will the smoke ever stop or should I seal with something else

    The silicone is probably off-gassing. I would much rather use a fire-rated kaowool blanket or rope for sealing the flue collector. It'll be A LOT easier to service every year as well.

    Was this high temp RTV, or some kind of generic home improvement store silicone caulk?
