I recently got asked by a good customer of mine if I can use his steam boiler to heat his pool.i have seen some tekmar setpoint controls that show a heat exchanger off of a hot water boiler. Can the same be done with a condensate loop off of the steam boiler? Thanks Paul S

Ill bet a real pool heater would be cheaper

plus if that boiler is used to heat his house wont running it mae his house hot in the summer?

I have installed a lot of the haywood heat pump pool heaters, they are not super expensive to run and they work well... no side effects and wearing out your central heating system...

    I Would Say...

    Theoretically yes, but practically no.

Some questions: what's the btu requirement for the pool? Can the boiler meet that requirement? What will be done to protect the boiler from flue gas condensation and thermal shock? How much effort will go into a viable control strategy? How much would all this cost? Is the boiler heating domestic? If so, how?

I think once all that is determined, even if it would work, it would be much more feasible to install the right tool for the job: a pool heater.
