Gorton #2

Hi Everyone,
I just received my first Gorton #2 and plan to replace two Gorton #1's I have installed with it. I installed the #2 and didn't notice any difference in venting my mains. It actually seemed to take longer to get steam to my radiators (lesson learned to grab my stop watch next time I do a change like this). I removed the #2 and tied to blow in it (similar to what I do when I test my radiator air vents) and got nothing out of the vents. This leads me to believe the vent is defective but as I have never owned a #2 and I wanted to see if anyone knows if I should be able to blow through the vent as described above. Would like to hear some feedback before contacting the store and getting an exchange.
Thanks

Make sure shaft end is down
My Pex Supply order just came today. If I blow through My Gorton 2 with shaft end down it's clear. When the shaft end is up, I can't blow through it.0 -
Shaft end down
HI Double D,
i also got mine from PexSupply the other day. Question about your post. When you say "shaft end down" are you referring to threaded end on the bottom? I tied blowing in the vent in both orientations and nothing comes out of the venting holes on the top.

Try this
It's possible there is some residue left from when the vent was tested. This is unusual but once in a while one comes thru like that.
Hold the vent under a faucet and run some warm (NOT hot) water into it, then shake it a few times so the water gets to all parts of the vent interior. Dump the water out and see if the vent works now.
If trying this several times doesn't help, the vent is a dud and you should exchange it.

Cleaning vent
Thanks for the suggestion. Tried it a few times this morning with no luck. No water came out the vent holes on top of the vent at any time during this process. I think I will call the company and ask for an exchange.
Thanks for your help.0
