Google buys NEST

Google said Monday that it will pay $3.2 billion in cash for Nest, which makes smart thermostats and smoke alarms. Rest assured that Google is hoping to plug smart homes together with Android devices, its developer ecosystem and treasure trove of data.

    Remember

That with everything Google offers, YOU are the commodity they sell. Not sure having them involved with your environmental controls is a good idea. Keep in mind that at any given moment we all can be blackmailed on our browser history, which I'm sure they have stored away. Giving them the keys top your T-stat might be part of the bigger plan....

    I was wary

of the Nest for several reasons.  I've been very wary of Google for years -- for very good reasons.

I'd avoid the Nest like the plague now!  Last thing you want is Google monitoring what temperature you keep your house at!

    NEST

I have been having problems with the NEST thermostats. I have found two bad ones already. One had the A/C and heat on at the same time, the other wouldn't turn on the display when you walked up to it and it didn't indicate that the internal battery was going dead. AND all of the settings were proper.
