Good Morning

Boys, girls, men and  women yes it got cold outside. All the possible problems

stuck their little ugly heads out. Yes all the short cuts,  under sizing, miss matching

equipment have come around to bite you n the butt these last few days.  I got a

desperate call for help @ 2:00 am  this morning. Familiar with the building,  I just

laughed  nothing I could do for them. I had already told them the gas piping

was to small and the back up generators couldn't handle the load.  Well our

little town lost power yesterday; yes I was over ruled by this engineer who said

it would never get this cold and the added expense was a waste of time and

money.Well ( now that is a deep subject ) I walked from that job ( LOL ).

I said call that engineer who designed it get him to fix it. Not a thing I could do

beside it was way to cold for me. Yes I am sure this happened all over

America. Well wake up people and smell the crisp air outside because it will get

worse in years to come. Our power grid is a joke and our gag line distribution is

even worse and what is so so sad is nothing is going to be done until its to late

If our President's  had an ounce of sense regarding the peoples need  instead

of bailing all the big companies out they should have done what F.D.R. did

put the folks back to work. Yes they say unemployment is down but what they

don't say is when your benefits run out they quit counting you. Well I have

probably said way to much and be put on the most watch list ( LOL ).

One last word is, can anybody tell me why our Great Big Brother made all the

Television station convert to digital and get away from analogical? I know do

you. Have a great day wet-heads please be careful out in this cold weather.

PEACE BE WITH YOU

DAVID C. BROOME

    It's okay to fire clients.

In 2009 we had about -12 or -13 here (NE Ohio). I got 4 emergency calls for frozen pipes that had nothing to do with me other than they were people I'd done steam heating for.

This time none of those people called. Why? They aren't my customers any more, because each one refused my diagnoses and advice. And each was extremely "high maintenance" --the people, not the equipment. Oh and they were all very late pay, like a week before they wanted seasonal startup. And "seasonal startup" always meant "the day before sub-freezing temps with snow flying." Never mind that the heating season started the month before.

Today? just a couple of calls wondering if some of the odd burps heard from the systems were normal when it's -12. "Yes." Or, should they turn the building heat way down due to prevent stress on the heating system. "No!" Don't need no stinkin' frozen pipes!

It's been a peaceful day. My current clientele has it's priorities pretty much straight in regard to heating and mechanical systems.

As to your other comments: yes. And it sure brings it back full circle to priorities.
