What pressure required to kill steam radiator vents?

In the process of adjusting a client's steam system I noticed that while the pressuretrol was set at .5 with a dif of 1.0 the pressure guage was at 10psi and rising. I took the pressuretrol off and discovered the pigtail trap was clogged. Replaced both control and pigtail and system now operates at proper pressure. It must have been that way for a while. Have all the little expanding parts of the steam vents been crushed by that high pressure? Thanks in advance for any help and insight.

Maybe so, maybe no
if you are fortunate, no. However... it would be well worth the time to wander around and find all of them and find out!Br. Jamie, osb

It depends on the vent.
Some are as low as 10 psi but most are between 15 and 30 psi max. Some have lower operating pressures, but that just means they don't work properly at higher pressure.Just another DIYer | King of Prussia, PA
