HVAC Smart Chip

I just received a press release from a company, Aircon Energy LLC, touting what they call an "HVAC Smart Chip." Has anyone heard of these? The basic premise is that after your compressor or furnace shuts down, the chip will keep the blower on for up to 8 minutes after a call has ended, extracting as much usable heat or cool out as possible. I just did a very quick internet search and came up with a bunch of promo stuff, but no actual description of wiring or how the logic in it actually works. They say they are in use in some parts of the country. I was just wondering if anyone out there had heard of these things or even has experience with them. The theory makes some sense to me, but I'm wondering if they can actually deliver on their savings claims.

    It's called a post purge

and its already part of the onboard controls in recent appliances.  Heck, my ~1945 Lennox oil furnace had it.

Where do you plug this "chip" and into whose products?

The claim here is that it continues the post purge until all heat or cool is removed. They also say it can be retrofitted on any system using a 24 volt thermostat.

    They cannot

The "smart chip" is a simple delay off relay. It might save some energy or it might just make everyone feel cold and waste energy running the fan.

Without any sensors or integration with the appliance it is just randomly running the fan longer.

Enough of this, I need to go an buy one of those hurricane gismos too make my truck more efficient.
