Installed a new steam boiler

Replaced an American Standard atmospheric gas boiler, it was piped all wrong, was way too big at 150,000 BTU, I measured 143 EDR with two rads removed, anyway rotted badly and needed to be replaced, was leaking everywere. I installed a Williamson GSA 75, ran a 2 1/2" drop header, with two 2" risers, probably overkill but it works really nice. What do ya think.

Vent
You should offset your main vent with some elbows to reduce the chance of crud shooting into it.0 -
Main vents
Actually those are return vents, there were no vents on the system at all and the main ends were inaccessible , so the only logical spot for them were the returns.DL Mechanical LLC Heating, Cooling and Plumbing 732-266-5386

Nice new boiler
That place on the returns is the best place for the main vent(s). To keep any slugs of water propelled by steam from damaging the vents, use an antler to slow the water down if it blows up the dry return riser, and I'm sure a Gorton 2 would get the air out quicker. See if the customer will spring for a 0-3 psi gauge as well as the code-required, but useless 0-30 psi model. By looking at the Better gauge, you can see whether you need more than 1 Gorton 2, as you attempt to release the air during the venting phase at 2 ounces of back-pressure.--NBC0 -
Eccentric?
Are those eccentric reducers on the dry returns?0 -
Yes
Unfortunately I hadn't realized the returns were 1-1/2 until I went to thread one. I had all 1-1/4 fittings and pipe. So it's late it's cold what can I do. I needed to get the heat on so I used eccentric couplings. However the pitch on those returns is so great I doubt any condensate will flood the backend of the pipes. It ran fine with no water hammer and I went back a second time to skim the boiler.DL Mechanical LLC Heating, Cooling and Plumbing 732-266-5386
