Assembling 3" drop header

So I get home tonight, I have all of the parts i need to put together the 3" header so I get to it because I, like most of us, can't wait!

However, I get a little overzealous with the Rectorseal # 5 and I notice it oozing into the inside of the fittings. Alas I try and try but I can't get it all out because it is now thickening.

A) will this pose a problem other than a boatload of skimming at end?

B) Do I have to worry about particles hanging up in my antler of Gortons at the end of the main or any of my rad vents?

Thanks,

Jim

    You Might Try...

Wiping the excess with a rag soaked, but not dripping with acetone.

I always try to avoid getting dope on the first thread on steam or gas lines particularly.

Other than a good skimming, I think you'll be alright.

    My dad always told me..

I was always overzealous with pipe dope. I guess overzealousness is a flaw I have!

I will try the acetone route. Thanks guys....'

    Well! It's done!

    2" x 27" risers, 3" drop header, 1 1/4" equalizer.

Steams like a beauty! Now skim skim skim and flush!
