steam preheat

Is there any advantage in preheating a steam boiler from 5 to 15 psi versus 55 to 65 psi as far as cost and energy savings?

    Good heavens...

if you are dealing in either of those pressure ranges, you are way beyond what we usually play with here.  That's process or even possibly power boiler temperatures.

That said -- in those ranges, yes; if you have waste steam at low pressure, it is well worth running it though a heat exchanger to preheat your feed water, particularly if your system is open loop or you are running a considerable vacuum on your condensers.  The exact configuration and benefit would depend a lot on just what temperatures and pressures you have in your system, and what your are using the steam for.
