What is used today to replace a Hoffman Radiator Trap #18 in a two pipe system. Radiator is from 1929.

Thank you, Janet

    Are you sure

    it's an 18?

Most Hoffman traps have replaceable innards, which is a lot easier than replacing the whole trap (unless something has happened to the trap)..  Try www.pexsupply.com or www.statesupply.com.

    Trap Parts

Hi- Besides the sources Jamie provided you, other sources for rebuild parts for steam traps (Thermostatic,  F&T) are:

    Barnes & Jones

    http://www.barnesandjones.com/

    Tunstall

    http://www.tunstall-inc.com/tunstallsteam.html

Getting the covers off the traps can sometimes be a bit hard. Using an impact wrench works well

Thank you for the information. I am not doing the work myself but I like to have some knowledge as to what is involved. I live in SW Michigan and I have only found one person who is knowledgeable about steam heating. I found him as a result of this forum a few years back when he read my post about a new boiler install and the problems I was having. He repiped the boiler the way it should have been done. Just don't seem to be able to get any timely follow through on needed work. I checked out contractors on this site and there is no one listed for this area.

Again, thank you for the information.  Janet
