Hey everyone....has anyone ran into a monoflo system where the installer didn't use diverter tees...they used reducer tees like in the pic I posted below...?. ...the reason I'm asking this is because I have to add a radiator to the system....the radiator will go on the floor directly above the main. .if I use the same setup will it work? They used a 1 1/4 by 3/4 tee..

    not so wierd....

    Just looks like pre-monoflow fittings, smaller diameter pipe between the reducers forces some of the flow into the loop.  I would guess you could do it the same way, but I would pipe in a globe valve in the main run in case you need to throttle, to get a little more flow into the radiator.

    What was the return temp by the time you get back to the boiler?

    between

    The two tees is 3/4 pipe....can I pipe my tees in and connect with 3/4 copper and have Q&A/4 sweat ball valve to throttle?

    ball valves

    make rather poor flow control devices.  I'd use a globe valve.

    Are you saying.....

    Between the 2 reducing tees you want to put 2 more tees?

    I don't think that will work. You may not get flow thru the branch the the original tees were serving. Or you may need a way to throttle both the original branch and the new branch, or you may not get the propr flow thru one or both.

    If I misunderstand please show a sketch

    I have seen a lot of systems like that

    just cut in your new radiator and install a couple globe valves {I put one on the main and the branch}
