Pro Press Fittings on Steam?

Looking for an informed answer from the steam gurus.

Viega has an "O" ring that's rated for steam @ 320*. They say it's okay to use it anywhere on low pressure steam systems.

Here's my question: Since Pro Press fittings have a slight amount of "give" in them, would it be acceptable to use them on the header in lieu of black iron?

You can choose to do what you want, but you cannot choose the consequences.

    no way

Technically that answer belongs in the hands of the manufacture of the propress people...Anything less than good old black iron along with cast iron by Ward has no place in steam headers or in my opinion anywhere else on a steam boiler...If I saw that I would walk out of the job. But thats just me...JA

    MegaPress, but.....

The only place I have used ProPress in a steam system is on the condensate lines. The MegaPress fittings would be more applicable to building the header, but I would still opt for screwed pipe for the boiler header. MegaPress would work well for run out connections of the steam system, though.
