I am being told that in certain areas it is very difficult to find anyone who feels comfortable installing a gas conversion burner in a oil designed boiler.

How many of you do this type of work and do you find it profitable?

Here in Rhode Island it is not a problem as one company here does them regularly and it is very profitable.

We do a lot of them

and they are definitely profitable. Customers like giving the oil companies the heave-ho, without buying a new boiler.

    Homeowners call me

looking for someone to do this work. I would love to have a list of those who would be interested in this work so I could refer them.

The gas company has sent several contractors to customers and when they arrive they inform the homeowner they do not do conversions but will sell them a gas boiler 80+. They also do not do Mod/Cons. In some cases the oil boilers both steam and FHW are less than 10 years old.

    Re: conversion burners etc

We have done hundreds over the last 40 yrs +  It is always pretty easy on commercial and old residential as the fireboxes were big enough, sometimes to big of course. The smaller firebox boilers of more recent vintage are not always convertible and of course you have to see if mfr has tested there boiler with a gas gun which I know you guys already know.  I have done a few of the G series Buderus boilers of late but not many any more as condensing boilers are usually on the plate.

    conversion

for the G115/21 conversion what burner do you use:

I've heard the Riello 40G120 is suited; any others? How's the stack temp on conversions from fairly new boilers. Our G115 with oil usually measure 275-300.
