Is the vent shipped with some modcons [hy-vent type float air vent] considered a consumable that would typically be replaced after a number of years, or replaced only on failure?

Boilers ship only with the pump (and sometimes not even that). Everything else is up to the installer/designer to order and build into the system0 -
Generally speaking....
hyvents only last a few years. They minerals and junkin the water end up plugging them up. kpc0 -
